18th August 2010. Sir Chris Hoy added another victory to his tally yesterday at a Jaguar Hot Laps event at Silverstone. A selection of Britain's finest sports men and women took to the track in Jaguar XKRs. The four‑time Olympic gold medalist clocked the best time, set in torrential rain, with boxer James DeGale coming home second and Dame Kelly Holmes securing third position.
Competition was fierce with the elements adding a further challenge. Rain fell during the session causing Dame Kelly Holmes to take a spin into the gravel.

Sir Chris Hoy commented: "I drive an XKR on the road and it was great to push one to the limit at Silverstone. It has been an amazing experience and I would like to thank Jaguar and everybody at the Academy of Sport. It was a surprise to win and I am over the moon. I'm proud to be an ambassador for the Academy of Sport and it was great to meet some of the other ambassadors, members and patrons today. It's such an exciting initiative and it's fantastic to be involved right from the start."
Geoff Cousins, Managing Director, Jaguar UK commented: "It's great to see some of Britain's finest sports people enjoying themselves in Jaguar XKRs. These guys are used to competing but perhaps not in hi‑speed Jaguars around a world‑class race track. The Jaguar Academy of Sport is growing from strength to strength and we are delighted to have such a wealth of British talent on board."
