Coventry, United Kingdom – 10 April 2025: The Jaguar D‑type Continuation will make its Goodwood Motor Circuit competition debut in the Salvadori Cup on 13 April at the 82nd Goodwood Members’ Meeting, driven by Alex Brundle, British racing driver and broadcaster.
A landmark moment for D‑type Continuation, Jaguar Classic’s participation in the Salvadori Cup will see the vehicle join other racing legends and rivals from the 1950s. It adds to an impressive roster of motorsport outings for the Jaguar Classic Continuation cars, including at Silverstone’s Festival and GP Meet, as well as the time trials at Bernina Gran Turismo and the road rallies of Modena Cento Ore and Tour Auto.
Announced in 2018, Jaguar Classic created 25 D‑type Continuation cars from the ground up, using original drawings from 1955, making it a genuine, authentic continuation of the 75 original cars that were originally manufactured by Jaguar at its Browns Lane factory. Each car is created using original manufacturing processes and materials, to ensure they are true to the D‑type lineage, now making it eligible for competing as an original car.
Goodwood is a sacred place for classic car motorsport, and it will be awesome to see our D‑type Continuation dicing with its in‑period rivals in the coveted Salvadori Cup. We are excited for classic motorsport fans to see the car driven exactly as it was intended by Alex Brundle, all while using cutting‑edge sustainable fuels.

The Salvadori Cup is one of Goodwood’s most celebrated races, with a grid epitomising the golden era of motor racing, including the D‑type. Named in honour of the legendary British driver Roy Salvadori, it combines competitive racing with the unmistakable charm of classic engineering. Roy Salvadori was a British racing driver who was a key figure in Jaguar’s racing development during the 1950s.
Like the rest of the grid, D‑type Continuation will run on sustainable fuels. Working closely with innovative fuel partners, Goodwood is currently demonstrating how the technology can reduce environmental impact while maintaining the performance, sound, and spectacle that enthusiasts expect, by using sustainable fuels across its events.
About D‑type Continuation
In 1955, Jaguar planned to build 100 D‑types. With only 75 completed at the time, Jaguar Classic set about fulfilling the original ambition by creating 25 all‑new, period‑correct and road legal, sports cars. Each one of these D‑type Continuation vehicles is hand‑built at Classic Works in Coventry.
The D‑type, which won the Le Mans 24 Hours race three times between 1955 and 1957, is powered by the iconic six‑cylinder XK engine and is often regarded as a pioneer of motorsport engineering.
