Jaguar Academy of Sport ambassador Ian Poulter has battled through to win the World Match Play Championship in Spain, the 14th trophy of his career.
Poulter, who joined the Jaguar Academy of Sport as an ambassador last year, serves as a key mentor to young athletes hoping to make the jump from age‑group success to senior competition.
The Jaguar Academy of Sport recognises, celebrates and inspires the very best of British sporting talent and success. This is fulfilled through a Bursary Fund, already supporting Britain's upcoming sporting talent.
Geoff Cousins, Managing Director, Jaguar UK, commented: 'Ian's success is a great demonstration of the drive and determination we're looking to encourage in the Jaguar Academy of Sport programme. I hope this helps to inspire the next generation of young British sporting stars to one day repeat his success.'
Poulter's enthusiasm for both golf and British Sport, along with his success in Spain and over the past couple of years on the PGA and European tours, will undoubtedly inspire the next generation of golfers.
Encouraged by the success of the first 12‑months, the programme is set to grow substantially as it looks to support more young British sporting talent. The next intake of aspiring stars to receive a bursary from the Jaguar Academy of Sport will be announced at a special ceremony at the Leander Club in Henley‑on‑Thames on Friday, May 27. The event will not only see the bursaries being presented but it will also provide the young participants with their first mentoring sessions from patrons and ambassadors of the programme.
