29 October 2012.Jaguar Academy of Sport Ambassador Mark Cavendish leads a track session at the home of British Cycling with the Academy's Rising Stars in a year where cycling has grown from strength to strength with some incredible achievements from the British team.

Mark Cavendish met the Rising Stars at the Manchester Velodrome to provide a cycling masterclass as part of the Mentoring and Education programme delivered by Kelly Holmes Education.

Originally a track cyclist, Mark was able to lead the session with young talented athletes from a wide variety of sports from athletics to fencing. The opportunity to ride with one of the best cyclists in the world is something that doesn't happen every day and an experience the Rising Stars relished.

The track session was followed by a Q&A session where the Rising Stars asked Mark a variety of questions including the support he received when he started out, his wider support team, what it meant to win 23 Tour de France stages and his personal experience of London 2012.

Jaguar Academy of Sport Ambassador Mark Cavendish commented:"It's been great passing on my knowledge and I've really enjoyed leading the track session. The guys I've met are very talented young athletes and I hope some of the things they've learnt today will help them in training and competitions in their respective sports."

Jaguar Academy of Sport Star of the Future and cyclist Crystal Lane commented:"To be able to work with Mark Cavendish has been fantastic. He is one of the top British riders and someone who I really look up to. I've learnt a lot which can definitely be used in my training."

The Rising Stars also took part in an educational workshop to identify the make‑up of their team and discuss action plans to further develop their support team moving forwards.

On the day Mark also collected his Jaguar XKR‑S and was delighted to be able to make the journey back home in his car of choice.

The Jaguar Academy of Sport aims to recognise, celebrate and inspire the very best of British sporting talent and success. This is fulfilled through a Bursary Fund and a unique Mentoring and Education Programme (MEP) delivered by Kelly Holmes Education. The programme is an integral part of the Academy's success and provides the Rising Stars with invaluable non‑financial support to enhance their overall development and learning, helping them on their journey to fulfilling their sporting dreams. Rising Stars work with the Academy's Patrons and Ambassadors through tailored Workshops and Talent Days, which are delivered by experts in their fields.
