2011 GREENWICH CONCOURS D'ELEGANCE

09 June 2011

Greenwich, Conn., is a natural setting for a celebration of great classic automobiles. It's on the waterfront; it’s in a highly affluent community; and it's comprised of many impressive and stately homes. One knows The Great Gatsby was lived out here many times over. The people here love the cars, as evidenced by the crowds that poured over the classics and the newest luxury models on display, including by Jaguar. Jaguar's display featured four of its latest vehicles: the 2011 Jaguar XJ, Jaguar XFR, Jaguar XKR convertible and creating the biggest stir, a Polaris White, 550‑hp Jaguar XKR‑S. Over the weekend, literally hundreds of luxury car consumers poured over the new Jags, peppering the product specialists with questions of horsepower and color choices.

On the heritage side, Jaguar continued the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Jaguar E‑Type by displaying a beautiful sampling of E‑Type coupe and convertibles. Thanks to Dr. Allan Oshana, with his 1965 Series 1 Convertible in Opalescent Dark Blue; Mr. Alan Wiedie with this 1966 Series 1 Coupe in Carmen Red; and Mr. Dick Maury, with his 1963 Series 1 Convertible in Signal Red, for providing their beautiful classic Jaguars for the event.

On Sunday, Jaguar presented The Most Significant Jaguar Award to Ron Schotland of Skillman, NJ, for his 1954 XK 120 Roadster. All owners of Jaguar vehicles on display at the Concours received a copy of the limited edition Jaguar 50th Anniversary of E‑Type book.
