JAGUAR REVS UP RACING SEASON AT SEBRING

18 March 2011

Jaguar is back on the track this weekend, kicking off a brand new American Le Mans Series season, writes Stuart Schorr, Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs for Jaguar North America.

It’s the 59th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida® and, similar to NASCAR‑style, this season opener is ALMS' biggest race of the season.

Make no mistake, it’s going to be a fabulous sight at 10:30 a.m. EST this Saturday morning as the two Jags – part of a 59‑car grid – power across the line at the start of this 12‑hour marathon.

The JaguarRSR Racing Team will be on the grid campaigning for the first time with, not one, but two XKR GTs, along with a new line‑up of drivers that’s second to none.

Paul Gentilozzi and the entire JaguarRSR team have spent the winter break painstakingly evolving the car from top to bottom. It’s now faster, has improved handling with its new Dunlop tires, and its reworked 5.0‑liter AJ‑V8 is now stronger and much more robust.

Also, the Jaguar designers back in the UK have come up with a number of aerodynamic changes to raise the car’s top‑end speed.

RSR has pulled together a world‑class line‑up of drivers. In the #99 XKR GT, Paul is teaming‑up open‑wheel stars Bruno Junqueira, Cristiano Da Matta and Oriol Servià. In the #98 car, he has IMSA GT racer PJ Jones, together with karting ace Rocky Moran Jr. and 2009 Grand‑Am Koni Challenge GS champion Kenny Wilden.

Keep an eye out for the Jaguar XKR pace car, the Jaguar owners' car corral, and a very special Group 44 Jaguar E‑type on display. Sebring also holds a special place in Jaguar history, having seen victory in the 12‑hour race back in 1955.

Be sure to tune‑in to ABC, ESPN2 or ESPN3.com to watch the exciting race live this Saturday at 10:30 a.m. EST. For more information, visit http://www.sebringraceway.com/
