WAVING THE UNION JACK

18 May 2011

Jaguar joined Anglophiles and the Cool Britannia crowd in Los Angeles once again this year to celebrate all things British during BritWeek 2011.

As BritWeek's Official Automotive Sponsor, Jaguar has been showcasing its 2011 model line‑up at many of the key events, has hosted retailers and media at gala dinners and decorated the streets of Beverly Hills with Jaguar pole banners.

One of BritWeek’s key guests‑of‑honor, legendary British actor, Sir Ben Kingsley arrived at an event in a 2011 XJ long‑wheelbase.

Now in its fifth year, BritWeek highlights the many links Britain has with California in the arenas of art and design, entertainment, technology and business.

The packed 12‑day program featured everything from star‑studded gala events to concerts, exhibitions, conferences and symposiums.

Jaguar’s BritWeek involvement kicked off April 26 with A‑listers partying at the official opening event at the British Consul General’s mansion in Hancock Park.

For the event, Los Angeles retailer, Galpin Jaguar – well‑known for its customizing work – vinyl‑wrapped a 2011 XF in a British Union Jack flag design specially for BritWeek. The XF, along with a 2011 XJ, were prominently positioned on the red carpet entrance.

The specially wrapped XF was also on display at the key BritWeek Gala Dinner honoring sports and entertainment mogul Timothy J. Leiweke at The Event Deck at L.A. LIVE April 28. Here, the 500‑plus guests were entertained by British Grammy Award‑winning artist Seal and acappella band, Overtone.

For the day‑long Film and TV Summit conference at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on April 29, local retailer Hornburg Jaguar had commissioned its own Union Jack‑wrapped Jaguar – this time an XJ – which was positioned close to the hotel entrance.

Jaguar also had a high‑profile display showcasing the 2011 XF and XJ, at the BritWeek Salute to British Design exhibition, held at the Pacific Design Center on May 4.

At each event, Jaguar's specially wrapped vehicles stole the show as guests couldn’t get enough of the British Union Jack flag designed Jaguar XF and XJ, snapping pictures whenever possible. All in all, another successful BritWeek for Jaguar North America!
