Last week, Jaguar Design Director, Ian Callum made a special trip to Los Angeles to participate in two exciting events taking place at the Petersen Automotive Museum, which is in its final days of operation before closing for a year‑and‑a‑half long renovation period.
The first event was a Wall Street Journal (WSJ+) panel discussion hosted by automotive columnist, Dan Neil. Ian participated on the panel with Stewart Reed, Chairman of Transportation Design at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif., where the two designers discussed the glamour of celebrity and iconic automobiles throughout time.

On Saturday night, Ian participated in the Petersen Gala, a gathering of automotive royalty from all over the industry, where he introduced honoree Mike Love of the Beach Boys, who was honored with the ‘Automotive Spirit Award.’

Love began collecting cars in the 60’s and has a 1966 Jaguar XKE in his collection. Ian also signed a Fender Jaguar guitar during the Gala that was auctioned off that evening and raised $5,000 toward the Museum's renovation. Guests were treated to a 14‑song set by the Beach Boys to end the night, which included classics like “Surfin’ USA,” “Good Vibrations” and “Little Deuce Coupe.”
