Tampa's Jaguar Power Couple

24 February 2014

Say hello to Florida’s new power couple Daryl and Tracy Young. She owns a 550‑horsepower French Racing Blue Jaguar XFR‑S and he owns a brand new 495‑horsepower Firesand Metallic Jaguar F‑TYPE V8 S. On order for the couple is Jaguar’s upcoming 550‑horsepower F‑TYPE R Coupe.

“The sheer power of these cars is amazing. Once you’ve experienced it, it’s hard to imagine driving anything with less than 400 horsepower,” says Tampa‑based computer specialist Daryl Young.

“The excitement I get driving my XFR‑S is what’s addictive,” adds wife and business partner Tracy. “It makes every drive, even to the grocery store, a thrill.”

Tracy was the first to get the Jaguar ‘bug’. Looking to replace her BMW Z4 back in 2010, she and Daryl stopped by the local Tampa Jaguar retailer to look at a new supercharged Jaguar XFR.

“It was the combination of awesome performance and real luxury that got me hooked. A lot of rivals in this class are fast, but don’t offer this level of comfort and craftsmanship,” she explains.

To ensure they could get the most out of the XFR model’s performance, both Tracy and Daryl signed up for Jaguar’s Performance Academy during its stop at Miami’s Homestead Speedway.

“It was the best thing we ever did. It really taught us how to get the most out of the car and become comfortable with all the different technologies,” she adds.

When Tracy saw images of the new supercharged XFR‑S during its debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, it was love at first sight. She immediately called the retailer and said ‘You have to get me that car’. “It took a few months, but it was worth the wait,” she says.

For British‑born Daryl, a life‑long car enthusiast, a new Maserati Gran Turismo was providing his driving enjoyment. That was until he was with Tracy at the Jaguar of Tampa dealership and spotted a black F‑TYPE V8 S.

Daryl took delivery of the two‑seat roadster three months later, but not before he’d seen the new F‑TYPE R Coupe and placed an order.

“I love having a convertible and really hearing that amazing sports exhaust crackle. But that said, I can’t wait to get the R Coupe. With the same power as Tracy’s XFR‑S but in a lighter body, it’s going to be outrageous.

“As they say in Jaguar’s new advertising campaign ‑ it really is Good to Be Bad,” adds Daryl.
