Accomplished Hollywood director, Bob Koherr, who recently wrapped‑up the 100th episode of the TV hit Anger Management, was so smitten by his F‑TYPE Convertible; he went out and bought an F‑TYPE Coupe to go with it. Here he explains his decision to go open and closed.

What was it that first put the F‑TYPE on your radar?

I actually saw a cool Jaguar ad on TV, which sparked my interest. A couple of days later, an F‑TYPE Convertible drove past me on the street and it looked terrific. My partner and entertainment attorney, Walter Batt and I, always owned sedans and SUVs, so we felt it was time to get into a sports car. We went to the local Jaguar dealership and took a test drive. It was actually Walter who drove the car, a black V6 Supercharged S Convertible, and I knew we’d be taking it home when he jumped out and almost shouted at me: “That’s just the best car I’ve ever driven.”

When did you buy the F‑TYPE Coupe?

It was actually a few months later we got an invite from Jaguar to attend one of their Jaguar Performance Driving Academy days and thought “why not?” It turned out to be a real game‑changer for me; a real ‘Come to Jaguar’ moment. To have an instructor who’s a professional race car driver sitting alongside, pushing me to explore the car’s performance and handling, made a huge difference. Hitting 130mph on the straight was just the most fun. Naturally we spent a lot of time in the F‑TYPE Coupe. A few weeks later we bought a V6 Supercharged S Coupe in Italian Racing Red.

Which one do you enjoy the most, Coupe or Convertible?

That’s a tough one. Last year I was spending a lot of long days at the studio, but it got to be a real joy, sliding into the Convertible late at night, dropping the top and just really enjoying the drive home with little traffic around. When it’s cool outside, maybe high‑50s, driving the Jaguar is just so invigorating. With the top down at night, you really hear that amazing exhaust sound, but I love the Coupe just as much. I’m a muscle car guy ‑ hey, I’m from Jersey ‑ and the Coupe somehow feels more muscular, more involving, and a little heftier. I just love the looks of the Coupe. It is such a luxury to be able to say “So which F‑TYPE do I want to drive today?”

What kind of driver are you in the F‑TYPE?

I’m pretty aggressive behind the wheel. I love to enjoy the acceleration, feel it shift hard through the gears and hear the exhaust sound. Both the Convertible and the Coupe are really fast ‑ for a while I thought we’d bought the V8 versions instead of the supercharged V6. One thing I know; if there’s an apocalypse in Los Angeles, I’ll survive because I know 380 horsepower is going to get me out of there and fast!

People in L.A. love cars. What kind of reaction do you get when you’re driving one of the F‑TYPE vehicles?

It’s more interesting the reaction I get at the studio. As the director, pretty much every show I do I get the primo parking spot, so every executive, every cast member, every technician has to walk past my car to get into the sound stage. People know me from before, but since I’ve been turning up in the Jaguar, I swear people treat me differently. It starts with the comments: ‘Bob, is that your Jaguar outside?’ Or ‘Nice car out there, Bob. Can I get a drive?’ I now find that me, the jeans and t‑shirt guy, is dressing a little nicer to work, because I have the Jaguar vehicles. Amazing.
