Jaguar announces 2011 Season for the "Jaguar R Performance Driving Academy"
June 24, 2011, MAHWAH, N.J.‑ Jaguar has opened the 2011 season
of the Jaguar R Performance Driving Academy. The academy debuted in
2009 to showcase the extraordinary performance capabilities of the
Jaguar R model range. The academy is now open to the public, and
provides a Jaguar R model vehicle and an experienced instructor for
participants.
The instruction consists of a two tiered course plan, a basic and
an advanced course. Each program is tailored to the abilities of
potential students. The basic course is complimentary with the
purchase of a new Jaguar XFR or Jaguar XKR. For other participants,
the cost is $1850 for the basic course, and for all participants,
the cost is $2495 for the advanced course.
"The Jaguar R Performance Academy offers each driver the
unparalleled opportunity to explore the performance envelope of the
Jaguar line on some of the most technically challenging road
courses in America." ‑BJ Colaric, Retail Marketing Manager, Jaguar
Cars North America
The Jaguar R Performance Academy offers an exhilarating,
experiential adventure for the auto enthusiast. This program is
designed to explore the capabilities of these extraordinary
automobiles, with the end goal of developing the driving skills and
techniques needed to securely achieve the limits of these
high‑performance vehicles. The program utilizes the Jaguar XFR and
the Jaguar XKR, which are powered by supercharged, 510‑hp V8
engines, and boast acceleration from 0 ‑ 60 in 4.7 and 4.6 seconds,
respectively.
The experience begins with a welcome reception the night before
the driving event. The next morning, drivers arrive at the track
for a driver orientation and a full day of driving in Jaguar R
Performance Academy cars. The lessons learned on the racetrack are
made relevant to everyday, real world driving and leave drivers
more aware of their vehicles' abilities and feeling more confident
behind the wheel. Driving activities include:
• Maximum acceleration and launch exercises using different Jaguar
Drive Control settings
• Braking exercises with anti‑lock braking system drills
• Emergency lane change maneuvers
• Dynamic Mode and Dynamic Stability Control Off handling
exercises
• Cornering drills
• Autocross and slalom course
• Full track laps at speed with driving coach and hot laps with
racing drivers
Upon completion of our basic course or any other recognized
performance driving school, we welcome drivers to participate in
our advanced course. With the guidance of some of the world's most
renowned driving instructors, participants in the advanced course
begin their day with more sophisticated car‑control exercises,
which include:
• Threshold braking exercises
• High speed cornering exercises
• Skidpad maneuvers
• Handling oval
• Low‑speed handling course
After polishing their individual performance driving skills,
students participate in individually coached driving sessions
around the full track. In‑car telemetry is recorded by a GPS
tracking device and laps are then analyzed to improve performance
on each segment of the track.
Multiple sessions of driving and lap time analysis allow students
to improve their performance. At the completion of the event, the
recorded laps are provided to the participants along with the
software to view the laps and analyze their performance through
each corner. Participants can also compare laps on the software to
see where they perform best ‑ and where they can improve. Driving
sessions are also recorded on video so that participants can review
instruction or share the experience with others.
